With more than 40% of Americans a $400 expense away from financial distress, the threat of crisis looms closely for too many families. Preventing families from spiraling into homelessness is an essential part of the Family Promise mission.
LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE?
If your family or a family that you know are facing eviction, or are needing help with move in costs to prevent homelessness please fill out the online form below, once the application is completed, staff will conduct an in-person intake to determine how much temporary assistance is needed to maintain, or move into stable housing. Financial assistance can be up to $1200 per family. The intake determines the family's ability to support future rent and connects them to resources that will assist in solving their housing crisis.
Each family will work with a FP staff member on a case management plan aimed towards preventing homelessness in the future.
Our affiliate offers a variety of strategies to ensure the people we serve do not fall into the cycle of housing instability that can devastate families and alter the course of children’s lives. These include administering formal diversion programs with government funding, providing rental assistance and landlord mediation, and community-based approaches that keep families housed. Our national partnership with Help Us Move In (HUMI) helps support prevention programming for our affiliate.
Our prevention program model is based on a combination of case management, opportunity, and community involvement. We empower the families we serve and ensure they are homeless no more.
Family Promise of Gallatin Valley prevents family homelessness in two ways:
We assist families in the mediation of evictions, provide rental and utility assistance, and provide case management. Our approach prevents homelessness and keeps children in stable homes.
Help Us Move In (HUMI)
We prevent families from experiencing homelessness by assisting with finding housing quickly. Coupled with case management, we provide financial assistance with move-in costs, including first and last month's rent and security deposits.
The average cost per child to prevent homelessness through HUMI is $273. This truly changes the future for children in America.
