Volunteer Spotlight: October

Becca Sager is one of those volunteers who is “up for anything”. You can call her any time of the week with a random volunteer request and she is excited to volunteer! She is a relatively new volunteer to our program and eager to support our families in any way that she can.

We are grateful for volunteers like Becca for their willingness to use their time, strengths and abilities to make our families time in the program comfortable and safe.

Becca, thank you for all you do to support our program! Now let’s learn a little bit more about what makes this volunteer so special!

Name, Occupation:

My name is Becca Sager and I am a freelance portrait photographer

How long have you been volunteering for Family Promise and how did you get involved?

I began training this last spring. I heard about Family Promise after moving back to Montana from the east coast. It was a program I just knew I had to be a part of!

Why do you volunteer?

I volunteer because it is a part of my life. If that makes sense…I have a mentality were it comes so natural to me to do…it’s like meeting up with a friend for coffee.

What is your favorite part of volunteering for Family Promise?

Being a part of someone’s life changing transformation is the most amazing feeling in the world. In anyway where you can help a little bit to fulfill someone’s dreams is really special. A lot of people have a dream and just go for it and get there with determination. The amazing people in Family Promise have those same dreams. Life throws you off path sometimes and you need help getting back on it. Not to mention the kids are adorable!

Do you have any favorite memories from your time serving Family Promise?

Friendships I have made! Some people I know will be in my life for a long time! The kids say some of the cutest things as well! 😀 just melts my heart!

Do you belong to a congregation or are you an unaffiliated volunteer?

I sure do! I attend Journey Church

Do you have any kids and/or pets?

No kids until I meet my soul mate! No pets at the moment I’m pretty busy but would love one!

From looking at you, no one would guess that…..

I suffer from some confusing and annoying illnesses like Fibromyalgia. But I have some great support and who wants to hear about sad stuff!! Also I bet you wouldn’t think I’m from Wilsall, Montana because I love to dress up and be in with fashion!

Favorite place to eat:

My place or families.. cooking a heart healthy home-cooked meal!

What’s on your book shelf?

Well I do not have a book shelf but my mess of books include photography books, art history and spirtual books that get you thinking. I may have a few romance novels as well!

Who’s your hero?

Aside from Jesus…a woman I met at Journey her name is Dixie. When you meet her you can tell how warm, humble, and kind she is! Its a gift for anyone to know her! She is inspiring in so many ways! Love you Dixie!

THREE CHEERS for Becca Sager! Thank you for choosing to spend your time volunteering to support our homeless families with children. Our families and our program is lucky to have such a stellar volunteer like YOU!
