Unique Volunteer Opportunity: Get-a-Gift to Give-a-Gift Program!

At Family Promise of Gallatin Valley we believe in celebrating the little things, the big things and everything in between. It is important to show our families that they are valued and that their milestones are important!
Last week, it was one of our guest’s birthdays! When a guest has a birthday we celebrate in style. The guest can choose when they want to celebrate their birthday and we invite friends, families and volunteers to join in on the fun! We have volunteers bake beautiful cakes, give gifts and celebrate at the congregations.
Last week, the volunteers from the Belgrade 2nd Ward for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) Primary organization collected toys, books and games children in our program. This creative donation of brand new toys will then be distributed to the children on their birthdays at Family Promise!

Last year, a child asked that in place of gifts for herself on her birthday she wanted to collect gifts for our guest children. Guests who attended her birthday party joined in on the fun and donated beautiful gifts that we then distributed to our kids throughout the year! Talk about a circle of giving. The day the little girl arrived at our Day Center to drop off the gifts with her mother she was beaming.
How can you get involved?
The holidays are coming right up! Now is a perfect time to teach your family about the importance of giving. Ask your children if they would like to donate half of their gifts for the holidays this year to another child this year. In place of Valentine’s Day candy…perhaps ask your family if they would like to collect gift cards for another family? Create an office competition for collecting gift cards for parents in our families that might need a new interviewing outfit. Be creative!

At Family Promise, some of the best gifts come in the form of gift cards. We can never predict who will be participating in our program.
