Our 7th Annual Cardboard Box City 2013 will be held Friday, September 20th in Bogert Park! This event focuses on raising awareness about family homelessness in our community.
WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT? :: Community members of all ages raise $100 or more to pay for the privilege to sleep overnight in their decorated cardboard box creations.
WHY :: Our goal at Family Promise is to help homeless families regain their independence. We also believe in educating our community about why this goal is so important. This event is one part fun, one part inspirational. You’ll have a great time and also hear from our guests about their experience with homelessness. Help us raise funds to keep our doors open and raise awareness that this is a serious issue!
WHEN :: Friday, September 20th in Bogert Park. You can start setting up your fabulous box creation at 5pm. This event will go until 7am on Saturday, September 21th.
WHAT ELSE? :: Fabulous prizes will be given for various awards such as most creative box, most money raised, oldest participant
WILL IT BE FUN? :: Of course! This year will will be showing “The Pursuit of Happyness” from 7-9 p.m. in Bogert Park on an outdoor movie screen! Admission to the movie is free for all Cardboard Box City participants. Admission for the general public is $5/adult and $2/child (under 12).
